Devon kids, always outside
We grew up in Devon, which mostly meant camping, music round the fire and big plans made after dark. Usually by torchlight. Usually a dying torch.

Stan spent years shooting events, DJs and musicians, often in rooms where the lighting was, let's say, 'atmospheric'. He knows exactly what a light has to do on set.

The systems one
Basil worked in logistics and travelled to some properly remote corners. He fell for building the systems that move things around the world. Handy, as it turns out.
2023
The lightbulb moment
Living cheap in Hanoi, we kept hitting the same problem: good light is bulky, fiddly or both. So we built our own, then started selling motorbikes to pay for the first ads. In Hanoi. Where everyone rides a motorbike. Bold move. Worth it.
2024
Glowmad is born
The first Glowmad landed, people actually bought it (phew), and we made it official by setting up the company.

Growing pains, the good kind
Orders kept coming, so the team grew to keep up. Turns out the world was ready for inflatable lights.

Fergy joined to run customer experience and the warehouse. If your order turned up fast and your email got a friendly reply, that was Fergy. He's the backbone of ChillBeam.

Our own four walls
We opened our UK fulfilment unit, the first physical space we've ever had. Shelves! A door! Somewhere to test lights that isn't a tent.
